Filmmaker Eric Steel became interested in San Franciscos famous Golden Gate Bridge after reading a New Yorker article about its most troubling feature: it seems to be a magnet for suicides. Every fortnight someone jumps off the bridge, and fewer than 2% survive the fall. Steel decided to train cameras on the Golden Gate for 12 months. His film depicts moments in the daily life of the bridge and shows us footage of people climbing over the side of the bridge and leaping to their deaths, Steel talks to the family and friends of several of the jumpers, as well as interviewing a troubled young man who miraculously survived a jump, and a man who pulled someone to safety..
